In November 2024, Professor Khaled El-Enany, the African Union’s candidate for the post of UNESCO Director-General, visited the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa to participate in the 4th Edition of the “African Union Week for Awareness of Post-Conflict Reconstruction and Development (PCRD)”. During the event, he delivered a conference titled “The Role of Education in the Promotion of Culture of Peace,” introduced by HE African Union Commissioner for Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation.

The conference, held during the African Union’s Education-Themed Year 2024, underscored the transformative power of education. Professor El-Enany emphasized that education is both a fundamental right and a cornerstone for fostering sustainable and inclusive development. He highlighted its role in shaping a future rooted in cultural diversity, mutual respect, and opportunities for all human beings.
