In December 2024, Professor Khaled El-Enany, the League of Arab States’ candidate for the post of UNESCO Director-General, delivered a lecture on the values of UNESCO in Ancient Egypt at Vilnius University, Lithuania, at the occasion of the Arab Culture Days.
In his presentation, Professor El-Enany underscored the pivotal role of UNESCO in safeguarding cultural heritage, promoting intercultural dialogue, mutual understanding and advancing education as a cornerstone for peace and sustainable development.
Drawing on the enduring legacy of Ancient Egypt, he highlighted its remarkable contributions to fields such as science and education demonstrating how these achievements continue to align with the fundamental values and missions of UNESCO.
The presentation provided a profound reflection on advocating for greater international collaboration in preserving cultural diversity for future generations.
