Wael Abdel Wahab

Campaign Director
Wael Abdel Wahab is a career diplomat with a strong background in multilateral and bilateral diplomacy. His overseas assignments have included postings in Togo (2004–2006) and Brussels (2008–2013), and he served as Deputy Permanent Delegate of Egypt to UNESCO from 2016 to 2021. He currently leads Egypt’s campaign for the post of UNESCO Director-General and heads the Department of UNESCO Affairs at the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He holds two Master’s degrees from Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne, in the fields of Management Control and Auditing.

Ahmed El Hammamy

Campaign Coordinator
Ahmed El Hammamy is a diplomat specializing in multilateral affairs with experience in both diplomacy and the private sector. He joined the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2015 following several years in consulting. His international postings have included the Egyptian Embassy in the Democratic Republic of Congo (2016–2018) and the Egyptian Consulate in New York as Second Secretary (2020–2024). He is currently based at the Ministry’s Multilateral Affairs Department. He holds a degree in Political Economy from the American University in Cairo (2008).

Marie Soliman

Campaign Consultant
Marie Soliman is a career diplomat with experience in both bilateral and multilateral affairs. She began her diplomatic work at the American Affairs Department of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs before being posted to the Egyptian Embassy in Accra, Ghana. She is currently part of the Multilateral Affairs Department at the Ministry, where she contributes to Egypt’s international engagement. She holds a degree in Political Science.

Miran Taha

Campaign Specialist
Miran Taha is a diplomat and economist with experience spanning diplomacy, economic policy, and international development. She has held positions across the Egyptian public sector, including roles in foreign affairs, international cooperation, and cabinet-level policymaking. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in nternational Political Economy at King’s College London as a Chevening Scholar. Her academic background combines economics with international affairs.

Reem Akef

Communications and Research Consultant
Reem Akef is a Communications and Research Consultant with a focus on Middle East affairs, diplomacy, and regional policy. Her work spans strategic communications, sustainability, and international relations, with particular emphasis on conflict resolution and regional geopolitics. She is currently a PhD candidate in Euro-Mediterranean Studies at Cairo University and holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from the UK, as well as a double major in Political Science and History from the American University in Cairo.

Nada Khattab

Communications and Research Consultant
Nada Khattab is a Communications and Research Consultant with expertise in Egyptology and cultural heritage. She has worked across archaeology, museology, and heritage studies, contributing to both academic research and public engagement. She holds two Master’s degrees from the University of Strasbourg, in Egyptian Archaeology and in Museology and Heritage Studies. She also completed a doctoral preparatory year at the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences (EHESS) and is currently pursuing a PhD in Egyptology.

Aya Aboelenen

Researcher
Aya Aboelenen is a researcher with a focus on sustainability, urban development, and social impact. She began her career in the banking sector, working on development-focused initiatives before transitioning to research and international cooperation. She is currently supporting Egypt’s campaign for the post of UNESCO Director-General. Aya holds a double degree in Political Science and Economics from the American University in Cairo, and a Master’s degree in Urban Economic Development from University College London (UCL), UK.
