Lecture at the State University of Jakarta

In May 2025, Professor Khaled El-Enany delivered a lecture at the State University of Jakarta, Indonesia, on the theme “UNESCO in Ancient Egypt.”.

Drawing on the legacy of Ancient Egypt, Professor El-Enany highlighted how the civilization reflected values at the heart of UNESCO’s mission—ranging from the preservation of cultural heritage to the promotion of education, intercultural dialogue, scientific inquiry, and mutual understanding among peoples. He underscored the continued relevance of these principles in addressing today’s global challenges and reaffirmed that education remains a cornerstone for building inclusive, peaceful, and sustainable societies.

The lecture was attended by over 100 students, who demonstrated a strong interest in the topics explored. Their engagement reflected a growing awareness of the universal importance of safeguarding heritage, advancing knowledge, and fostering cooperation across cultures and disciplines. Professor El-Enany’s presentation invited reflection on how the ideals rooted in the past continue to inspire the collective work of UNESCO today.
