In May 2025, Professor Khaled El-Enany, former Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of Egypt, delivered a lecture at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS) in Seoul, highlighting the continuity between Ancient Egypt and the founding principles of UNESCO.
Speaking to an audience of over 200 people, including ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps, he reflected on how Egypt’s rich and diverse history shaped his belief for a world built on peace, inclusion, and cross-cultural understanding.
Supported by the African Union and the Arab League, his candidacy has taken him to over 55 countries in a campaign built on dialogue with governments, civil society, and academia. At HUFS, he advocated for fairer governance, depoliticized diplomacy, and greater regional representation within UNESCO.
The lecture coincided with the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Egypt and the Republic of Korea, adding to the event a powerful testament that underscores the role that heritage, education, and cooperation make in building bridges across continents.
