In November 2024, Professor Khaled El-Enany, the African Union’s candidate for the post of UNESCO Director-General, visited the International Institute for Capacity Building in Africa (IICBA) in Addis Ababa, a UNESCO Category 1 center dedicated to advancing education.

His discussions with the Director of IICBA spotlighted the institute’s critical role in strengthening Africa’s educational systems, with a focus on enhancing teacher training, developing innovative curricula, and providing robust institutional support. Professor El-Enany emphasized the importance of these initiatives in addressing the continent’s educational challenges and unlocking its full potential. During the meeting, he also explored the strategies for mobilizing resources to expand the institute’s impact and ensure its sustainability.
